I noticed the same thing. Maybe the program wasn't working? Or not enough people were selecting this option? By the way, if anyone selected "plain color" instead of public service ad - you're just plain greedy!

Has Google done away with PSA (Public Service) ads? I remember you used to be able to choose to fill an ad space, in the event that no ad was available to show, with either a solid color, a link to another ad, or a public service ad.

The public service ad option appears to have disappeared. Any ideas?

I was wondering the same thing, and found the answer: it's not developed in the new interface yet. If, after logging into Adsense with the new interface, you browse to this page, you'll notice that it says:

Custom color palettes
Designing and saving color palettes isn't available yet in the new interface, but we hope to add it soon. You can use existing color palettes, but you can only create them in the previous interface right now.

Great question! I have no clue and unfortunately am looking for the same thing...Meanwhile I guess we'll just have to switch back to the old interface. IMO the old interface has quite a few features that are either absent from or hard to find in the new interface. Here's hoping they don't kill the old one prematurely!

I'm in the new Adsense interface and I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a new custom color palette? If I switch back to the old interface it works fine, but not even in the Help Center do I find any indication of where the color palettes are under the new interface...

According to the Adsense TOS: Google ads may not be "placed on any non-content-based page. (Does not apply to AdSense for search or mobile AdSense for search.)"

I would not recommend putting actual ad units (ads for content or link units) on your 404 pages, regardless of how much custom text you include. What you can do, however, is place a Google search box there so users can continue searching for what they're looking for.

I can't seem to find the answer to this in the Adsense TOS - am I allowed to place Google Adsense ads on 404 not found pages? The pages actually do contain content, not just a "404 page requested not found" message. Then again, all the 404 pages are the same (ie. they're not unique), so I'm on the fence on this one and obviously don't want to get in trouble with Google...

Is there a limit to the number of ad units I'm allowed to create in my Google Adsense account? I can't seem to find the answer in Google support forums. I recall they're being a limit when I first signed up, but now I don't see one.

The reason I ask - I'm testing different ad units, and therefore am creating many of them. I don't see a "delete" option so am simply "hiding" the ones that I don't use anymore.

I'm taking a look at all the different ad provider options I have as a publisher. It's too bad Adsense does not have more competition, as they seem to have a stranglehold on the market (after Yahoo dropping their YPN program and Microsoft closing PubCenter to new publishers).

Some ad networks, such as Adsense, allow you to graph your CTR performance by site, channel, etc. and by specific date ranges. We use this to gauge the effectiveness and performance of different ad layouts.

I've heard 1% and below are poor, 2-3% is good, 5%+ is excellent, and 10%+ is asking for trouble (ie. getting banned by your publishing network (Adsense for example)).

What is a good Adsense CTR? I'm currently averaging 1.14% on one site, 1.35% on another, and a measly 0.80% on a third. Is there some kind of average I should be comparing myself to? My sites get over 100k uniques/ month.

Great question. The "allowed sites" feature is still present in the new Adsense interface, but in a new (and somewhat confusing) location. You can find it by browsing to Home > Account Settings > "Access and authorization" (bottom of page) > "Sites authorized to show ads."

Click on the "edit" link at right to add/ remove and authorize sites.

Where is the allowed sites section that used to be under Adsense Setup > Allowed Sites? This section is important. First, because I have it turned on and need to be able to allow new sites. But initially because I don't want unauthorized sites showing my ads and potentially getting me in trouble. Therefore I only authorize sites that I recognize (such as Google language sites) or run myself to serve my Adsense ads.
